Sen. Judith L. Schwank has served in the Pennsylvania Senate since she was first elected in April 2011. Her district comprises part of Berks County. She is Democratic chairman of the Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee and also serves on the Aging and Youth, Appropriations, Public Health and Welfare, and State Government committees. Before joining the Senate, she served two terms as a Berks County Commissioner, having been the first female elected to the office in 2000. She also was director of the Berks County Cooperative Extension Program. She earned both bachelor's and master's degrees in agricultural education from Penn State University and completed the Executive Leadership Program through the Institute for Conservation Leadership and the Institute for the Management of Life-Long Education at Harvard University.
