Harrisburg – Students from Edinboro and Shippensburg Universities of Pennsylvania and a faculty
member from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania will discuss special programs and
opportunities available to veterans who attend Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher
Education universities on this week’s edition of Infinite Opportunities. The episode
also will include visits to the campuses of Bloomsburg, Indiana and Shippensburg universities.
Infinite Opportunities airs at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday on the Pennsylvania Cable Network.
The half-hour, public affairs program features roundtable discussions with faculty,
staff, students and alumni from the 14 State System universities talking about a range
of higher education issues. State System Chancellor Frank T. Brogan moderates the
weekly discussions. Each program also offers viewers the opportunity to “travel” back
to the universities to learn more about how they address the various topics on campus.
This week’s panel will feature Erin Murphy, a sophomore human resources management
major at Shippensburg University and a specialist in the National Guard; Andrew Hammaker,
a senior individualized study major with a concentration in health and physical education
at Edinboro University who served in the Navy; and Dr. Josh Battin, chair of the Criminal
Justice Administration Department at Mansfield, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
The panelists will discuss a range of topics, including veteran support services,
veteran community partnerships, scholarships, transferring credits for military service
and interaction among professors and current reserve veteran students.
Each episode of Infinite Opportunities airs twice on PCN. This week’s program will
be rebroadcast at 6 p.m., Feb. 18. Prior episodes, including those from the first
two seasons, also can be viewed at www.passhe.edu/InfiniteOpportunities.
