Harrisburg – Rose Miller, a “nontraditional” student attending Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, will talk about how she was able to go back to college on this week’s episode of Infinite Opportunities, which will air Sunday morning on the Pennsylvania Cable Network (PCN).
Miller, who is working toward a Bachelor of Applied Science in technical leadership
degree, will be joined on the show by Tom Fletcher, vice president of strategic enrollment
management at Bloomsburg; and Kim Garris, associate vice president for external relations
at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania. The show also will include video visits
to the campuses of East Stroudsburg, Edinboro and Mansfield Universities of Pennsylvania.
Infinite Opportunities airs at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday on PCN. The half-hour, public
affairs program features roundtable discussions with faculty, staff, students and
alumni from the 14 State System universities talking about a range of higher education
topics and issues. State System Interim Chancellor Karen M. Whitney moderates the
weekly discussions. Each program also offers viewers the opportunity to “travel” back
to the universities to learn more about all of the campuses.
This week Miller will talk about the unique program in which she is enrolled, and
how it fits her busy life schedule. Fletcher will discuss how Bloomsburg works to
meet the needs of students who might have to balance both their work and family life
with their efforts to complete a college degree.
Garris will talk about the “Ship Start” program, which allows high school students
to earn college credits at Shippensburg University for a fraction of the price, enabling
them to get a jump start on their college education.
Each weekly episode of Infinite Opportunities is reshown at 6 p.m. the following Saturday
on PCN. This program will be rebroadcast on Jan. 27. Prior episodes, including those
from the first three seasons, also can be viewed at www.passhe.edu/InfiniteOpportunities.
