Commonwealth-Capital-Funded Project List
Commonwealth Capital Funded Projects are those that are authorized by the PA General Assembly and executed via annual funding from the Administration. The PA Department of General Services (DGS) is the design and construction agent for these projects, and, as such, will procure both the design professional and the construction contractor(s).
University-Funded Project List
Universities can execute their own capital projects, usually through System bond financing. Some of these are Auxiliary projects, which, once completed, are operated by fee-for-service or self-supporting University operations, such as recreation services and food services. For these projects, DGS is not involved, and the university will procure both the design professional and the construction contractor(s). This List is not necessarily accurate since the Construction Support Office generally does not track these projects.
Universities also execute numerous projects in the form of smaller addition, alteration, renovation, and repair projects. Many of these are under $250,000. The funding for these vary, but typically it will be through the university operating budget or out of Commonwealth KEY '93 funding. For these projects, the university will procure both the design professional and the construction contractor(s). The Construction Support Office does not track any of these projects.
University Open-End Professional Contracts
A few universities hold their own open-end contracts for design professional services, which they use to design their small addition, alteration, renovation, and repair projects. These universities use their own contracts in combination with the Construction Support Office's centrally held, open-end professional contracts.
Some of the universities which hold their own contracts will not re-advertise for new contracts when their existing contracts expire. They will utilize the System's centrally-held open-end contracts for architectural and engineering services exclusively.
