Defining Student Success
Phase 1 Task Group

Overview:

The Board of Governors recently approved three key strategic priorities: 1) Ensuring Student Success, 2) Leveraging University Strengths, and 3) Transforming the Leadership/Governance Structure.

Student Success is the #1 priority. Serving more than 100,000 students from every county in PA, the State System is the largest provider of higher education in the Commonwealth. Talented faculty and staff at each of the 14 universities deliver affordable, high-value, high-quality educational experiences to their students.

A clearly articulated student success mission and the identification of metrics is critical to providing clarity to what Ensuring Student Success really means.

Charge:

Recommend an “Ensuring Student Success” mission statement and a student success mission accountability framework to include metrics, goals, trajectories, and timeline.

Scope:

The task group has the authority to confer with any system and/or university personnel as well as consult with outside experts they deem helpful to the charge. The task group will determine its own outline of actions to take to accomplish the charge and achieve the deliverables.
