SYSTEM SUCCESS
Shyheem Blagman, Veterinary Technology
For junior Shyheem Blagman, the chance to train in a real-world veterinary setting brought him from Philadelphia to Pennsylvania Western University’s Veterinary Technology program.
“Animals deserve great care,” Blagman said. “At PennWest, you dive into hands-on learning from day one. Plus, it was an affordable choice to chase my dream.”
At PennWest’s California campus, vet tech students learn everything from animal anatomy and behavior to radiology and practice management. They also get hands-on experience with small animals in high-tech labs and get clinical training in surgery, dentistry, anesthesia, and more.
“The facilities and experiences at PennWest set us up for success,” Blagman said.
There are shortages of veterinarians and vet techs, and students like Blagman are ready to make a difference.
PennWest partners with high schools and CTCs to build interest in veterinary care
and prepare students
for the challenging program. This helps create a pipeline of future vets and vet techs
who can provide
the care pets—and families—need.
