Taylor Hudzicki, Unmanned Aerial Systems
Taylor Hudzicki graduated from IUP in May 2022 with a degree in geography and a certificate
in Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS).
As the only Pennsylvania university chosen by the FAA for its UAS collegiate training
initiative, IUP helped him secure his current role as UAS Manager and GIS Analyst
at RPG Resources, an environmental inspection company in Pittsburgh focused on oil
and gas.
“When I interviewed for a job, the company was looking for two people: an environmental
inspector, which my geography coursework covered, and a drone pilot, which I’d trained
for through the UAS program. I stood out from other applicants because I was qualified
for both positions.
“My time in the geography program and the UAS program prepared me well for my career
because our professors had us problem solve through trial and error to build experience
and confidence in our skills,” Taylor said.
Drones are only going to become more integrated into more and more industries. “So,
for the future, the sky’s the limit,” he said.
