Medical and Supplemental Insurance
Coverage for adult children automatically ends on the last day of the month in which your child turns 26. You do not need to take any action to remove your child from your health plan; coverage will end automatically. Your child will receive a notification from the State System’s COBRA administrator informing them of the option to continue coverage by paying the full premium, and will be provided a 60-day window to enroll.
Life and Accident Insurance
Voluntary Group Life and Accident Insurance (MetLife)
If you elected Voluntary Life and Accident coverage for your child(ren), they may remain covered (if unmarried) until they turn 26. If you no longer have any children eligible for coverage, you must contact your Human Resources office to cancel your child Voluntary Life and Accident coverage.
Once no longer eligible, your child has the option to continue coverage through either the portability or conversion options. If interested in continuation options for child coverage, please contact your Human Resources office for an application. There is a 31 day window following the coverage ending date to apply for continuation.
Payroll and Taxes
You may need to adjust your withholding for federal income taxes. This can be done any time by logging into the self-service workplace, Fiori and following these instructions.
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
Health Care FSA - To pay for your family's health care expenses not paid by insurance.
Eligible expenses for your child under the health care FSA may reimbursed until the
end of the month in which your child turns 26. You may decrease the amount you contribute
to your Health Care FSA by completing the enrollment form and returning it to your
campus Human Resources office within 60 days of your child’s 26th birthday.
Day Care FSA - To pay for child or elder care expenses, such as daycare or summer camp.
Dependents age 13 and over are not eligible for reimbursement under the Day Care FSA.
